Exclusively for Trident Members, Forbes Travel Guide, the global leader in 5-star hospitality service standards has created a training curriculum for the yachting community certifying both crew member and the yacht. The training focuses on providing guests with the highest in luxury hospitality. Topics to be discussed include luxury hospitality standards, team building, conflict resolution, personalized service, and creating positive experiences for guests.

    Two IGY Trident Member Yachts Earn First Ever Luxury Service Training Designation

    We are pleased to announce that M/Y Katharine is one of the first superyachts worldwide to earn Forbes Travel Guide Service Trained Crew designations. Forbes Travel Guide (“FTG”) is the global authority on luxury hospitality and the world-renowned expert in genuine Five-Star service.

    IGY Marinas has partnered with FTG to deliver proprietary superyacht crew service training as an exclusive benefit of IGY Trident Collective membership. The best-in-class professional development curriculum is customized for superyacht crews based on the principles of exceptional service that FTG’s highly experienced trainers teach at luxury hotels globally.

    The one-day, in-person program presents key lessons of exceptional service through experiential learning, engaging exercises and hands-on activities. Crews leave with sharpened hospitality skills and actionable takeaways to implement onboard immediately. This interactive training helps develop high-performing teams capable of creating unrivaled luxury service experiences for the most discerning guests and owners.

    The crews that attended the luxury service training in April participated in sessions that focused on elements of luxury, anticipatory service and handling difficult guests. Through role play, team-building exercises and open discussion, crew from all departments collaborated and were inspired to new levels of service excellence. In feedback following the training, crew members shared, “We feel more motivated to go the extra mile for our next charter,” and that they found the training “very helpful, fun and interactive!”

    Meet Whitney Diedericks

    your IGY Trident Manager

    Whitney was born in Boston, Massachusetts and went to school at the University of New Hampshire graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration. After graduation, she moved to San Francisco where she began a career in Advertising Sales and exploring the west coast for 5 years.

    Whitney has been in the yachting industry for 20 years, first as a yacht broker’s assistant and further into Yacht Management where she worked in compliance and later as the Head of Client Relations. In the early days she travelled to Newport, RI for the summers, St. Maarten in the winters, and Fort Lauderdale in the off season.

    When Whitney is not focusing on work, her life is very active with her family of 3 boys and her husband who is an ex-Yacht Captain. If they aren’t on a youth sports fields, they are boating in the summers, and skiing in the Rockies in the winter.

    As the IGY Trident Manager, Whitney advances all aspects of the program and is the central contact point to ensure members get the most out of their membership benefits.
